As part of the communications team at the national headquarters of the Boy Scouts of America, I helped lead a team of communications professionals and external agencies that aimed to protect and enhance the BSA brand and drive awareness of Scouting programs amongst parents of current and potential Scouts, media, volunteers and employees. Responsibilities included:
- Creation and management of an internal (scoutingwire.org) news site and management of an external (scoutingnewsroom.org) site that tell the story of Scouting. Audiences included a nationwide workforce of 8,000 employees in 270 regional offices, 2.3 million youth members and 1 million volunteers.
- Consultation with executive management on a range of communications issues, as well as management of our annual report (and here) and the BSA’s Report to the Nation, which is delivered to Congress each year.
- Creation of video and social media campaigns (and here) designed to raise awareness about organization milestones.
